PROJECT DESCRIPTION - During 3daysofdesign 2025, Søuld introduced Acoustic Fragments as part of Studio Retreat — a curated exhibition created in collaboration with Motarasu, RYE and We Do Wood. Set within an intimate studio apartment, the exhibition explored how natural materials and tactile surfaces can shape a calm, sensory atmosphere rooted in sustainable craftsmanship.
Within this setting, Acoustic Fragments presented a new modular approach to acoustic surfaces. By dividing eelgrass panels into smaller geometric components, the material is freed from a fixed scale. The Fragments can be combined to form large, cohesive walls while adapting to different spatial conditions and dimensions.
Each tile consists of a precisely cut Acoustic Board FR mounted on MDF. The elements can be installed in a straight pattern, rotated 90 degrees, or shifted horizontally to alter rhythm and expression. A sharp groove meets a softly rounded corner, creating subtle transitions between elements. When selected components are rotated, a refined shadow effect appears, adding depth and contrast to the surface.
With Acoustic Class C performance, the three-dimensional composition supports both sound absorption and dispersion. Installation is simple and allows for disassembly, enabling flexibility over time.
