PROJECT DESCRIPTION — The newly reopened Langelinieskuret brings new life to a historic harbour building, shaped with care and respect for its original architecture. David Thulstrup, Karberghus and Office Club have shaped the historic building with an emphasis on warmth, intimacy and rhythm. Originally designed by Danish architect Wilhelm Dahlerup, the architecture is defined by its vaulted spaces and raw Öland stone — materials that carry both weight and history.
Approaching the project with deep respect for a building that has already lived a full life, David Thulstrup attended to the existing and surrounding qualities of the space — the proximity to the ocean, the vaults and the natural stone. Within this context, the integration of eelgrass panels is a considered and natural extension of the architecture. Søuld Acoustic Boards FR are mounted across both walls and ceilings, framing the spaces and introducing a soft, tactile counterpoint to the building’s steel and stone surfaces. The natural eelgrass panels bring a calm, muted acoustic to the interior, creating comfortable sound conditions while adding warmth and material depth throughout the building.
The colour palette is dark, natural and subdued, softening the light in summer and bringing warmth during the winter months. Rich brown tones and textured surfaces enhance the tactile experience, reinforcing the sense of calm and intimacy.
