ACOUSTIC DIVIDER — Søuld Acoustic Divider is a freestanding acoustic element designed for spatial and acoustic shielding in homes, offices and hospitality interiors. With integrated Søuld Acoustic Mats, it delivers Acoustic Class A sound absorption while creating a tactile and flexible division of space.
Available in two module sizes — 500 × 1500 mm and 1000 × 1500 mm — the elements can be used individually with aluminium feet or connected to form a folding wall. With no defined front or back, the divider is designed to work naturally from all sides.
Each element combines FSC-certified European oak, eelgrass Acoustic Mats and Danish-made textiles from Kjellerup Væveri. The contrast between the natural materials brings depth, colour and tactility to the design, while the lower textile panels also provide pinboard functionality.
The construction is deliberately simple and expressive, using custom-crafted oak connections rather than concealed mechanisms. Together, the materials and joinery create a movable acoustic element that combines function, flexibility and architectural character.
Key features

Acoustic Divider is available in two module sizes: 500 × 1500 mm and 1000 × 1500 mm. The formats can be used individually or combined to create larger freestanding compositions depending on the scale and function of the space.
Each element combines Søuld Acoustic Mats made from eelgrass with a frame in FSC-certified European oak and textile panels made with fabrics from Danish textile manufacturer Kjellerup Væveri. The contrast between the porous eelgrass, structured timber and softer textile surface creates a tactile, three-dimensional composition with distinct material depth.
The carefully selected textile colours are designed to complement the natural brown-green tones and variations of eelgrass, allowing the different materials to form a balanced overall expression.
Acoustic Divider can be supplied as an individual freestanding element with aluminium feet or connected to other modules to form a folding wall.

Acoustic Divider is designed to respond to changing spatial needs without permanent integration into walls or ceilings.
The two module sizes can be combined to respond to different spatial needs, from smaller partitions between work areas to longer compositions that define zones within open interiors. As the design has no defined front or back, the divider works naturally from all sides.
Connected modules are joined using a custom-crafted cylindrical oak stick, while standalone elements can be mounted with aluminium feet, allowing the system to remain flexible and easy to reposition as the space changes.

Designer & Co-founder Tobias Øhrstrøm
ACOUSTIC SPATIAL DIVISION — Rather than concealing the acoustic material, the design places Søuld Acoustic Mats at the centre of the composition. The eelgrass remains visible from both sides, allowing its fibres, texture and natural variation to become part of the experience of the object.
The oak frame provides structure without creating a conventional front or back. Each element is assembled through simple joinery, with a custom-crafted cylindrical wooden stick connecting adjoining modules. Instead of complex fittings or hidden mechanisms, the way the divider is constructed remains visible and understandable.
The lower textile panels introduce another layer of function and material expression. Inspired by the proportions of traditional wall panelling found in Copenhagen apartments, they give the element a sense of architectural familiarity, while the subdivision of the frame carries subtle references to the lightness and rhythm of Japanese shoji screens.
Together, eelgrass, oak and textile create a composition that feels both architectural and approachable. The materials are distinct but balanced, with each contributing its own texture, depth and function.
Acoustic Divider is designed as more than a sound absorber. It can define space, provide visual separation and function as a pinboard while remaining movable and adaptable — allowing acoustic comfort to respond to interiors as they change.
