PROJECT DESCRIPTION — Søuld has delivered a full acoustic solution for the old Motorfabrikken Marstal on the island Ærø in Denmark. Marstal Motorfabrikken Marstal (The Marstal engine factory) is a 120-year-old factory that for decades engaged in repairing ship engines at Marstal Harbor on Ærø. Since 2017, local enthusiasts have been in the process of converting the industrial and maritime historic building into a dynamic culture and entrepreneurial house.
The focus has been on an exhibition and demonstration of Marstal Maritime Museum's engine collection with associated restoration workshops, an entrepreneurial environment (FabLab) and a conference and event hall for companies and islanders. It is the ambition that Motorfabrikken Marstal becomes a maritime entrepreneurial house, where the factory helps to make Ærø and Marstal Havn a leading place for the development of maritime products and inventions, and which supports and strengthens business and culture in the traditional port city.
